9A- TESTING THE HYPOTHESIS PART2

ASSIGNMENT 9A-

  • Who: after interviewing five other people, I realized that not everyone has the same need to improve the bus service, for example, people who live on campus or at least in a complex that is very close (Interview 1), the girl who I interviewed said that her classes are at most 10 minutes walking from her complex, or those who use scooter (Interview 3), he said that sometimes it is difficult park near his classes but he prefers to suffer with the parking than to take the bus. Also, Interview 4 said that the bus system works for her because she only takes classes in the morning
  • What: two people who I interviewed complained about leaving their classroom  at 6pm and they did not have a chance to get to the bus that takes them home, so I still think the need to extend the hours in which the RTS system work is necessary
  • Why: One person I interviewed (interview 3) said that he would prefer the idea of building more parking for scooters or cars. In my opinion, that idea is more expensive and I feel that the campus does not have enough space to build more parking lots

INSIDE
Who: College students and workers who rely on the RTS system to transport
What: To help students and workers transport more easily after 6pm
Why: the RTS system reduces its routes after that time

OUTSIDE
Who: people who live on campus or near campus, people who use scooters or cars
What: they do not need the RTS system to extend their hours because they can easily walk to their homes or take their car or scooter at any time
Why: they would have other needs (those that use a scooter or car) like to make more parking lots at the university

  1. Hey Maria, I absolutely love your idea, and in the past I have thought there are opportunities to improve meeting unmet needs with the bus transportation system on campus and in the general Gainesville area. I suggest looking at the annual schedule for the bus system, as often times RTS closes and reduces many routes and schedules when campus is closed for extended periods of time. This could potentially be leaving many Gainesville area residents without transportation if citizens unrelated to the University depend on the bus, which I am sure hundreds do. I think you should reconsider who lies outside of your boundaries as I drive a scooter and still use the bus frequently when it is cold or raining.
